About Terry
Terry Coates began racing in the U.S. Pro Rally series in 1986, then turned to road racing in the SCCA's Showroom Stock series shortly thereafter. He raced full-time through 1997. Terry's racing archive chronicles those early years.
While always a "car guy", Terry also writes, designs and implements websites (like this one, among others), creates automation tools for projects he is associated with, and is always ready to lend a hand with project materials whether PowerPoint, audio, video or something else. In his past, Terry was an on-air radio personality at a local radio station, was trained as a volunteer firefighter, and worked as a sound engineer for a local band.
But it was that "car guy" thing that ultimately won out.
Terry has worked in the automotive space since the 80's, but by 2002 he was focusing all of his attention on--and has become a student of--the automotive industry. He has brought his expertise to bear in nearly 600 training sessions on behalf of numerous manufacturers.
Terry recently had the honor of being the lead facilitator on the worldwide launch of Fisker Automotive and the Fisker Karma--the company's first automobile.
Recognized as a certified sales trainer for American Honda Motor Company, Terry regularly conducts sessions as part of the Professional Selling Skills classes for both Honda and Acura divisions. He has performed store-opening training and has worked with Auto Show Presenters to prepare them for their roles as ambassadors of the brand. In 2011, Terry became one of the few facilitators selected to conduct management training on behalf of American Honda Motor Company.
BMW is another manufacturer that uses Terry's talents for product and sales training. He was part of this year's reintroduction of BMW's Product and Sales Immersion class.
Terry is the President of 10/10ths Development Corporation, an Ohio corporation that provides training based on psychological assessements.
